A poem for the moment

 Serenity is here

In the small moments few notice.

The ways we know to look for calm

When noise is everywhere.

That background noise of birds through the phone

Or better yet, right in front of you

Is a sign that life continues at a pace

Matching our heartbeats.

Rhythm can be found at the end of a pen stroke

Or in the basement as dominoes fly and slap the table.

We can rest in the bosom of our Creator

Releasing painful stories

Growing pleasant memories.

Replacing the foul with honey

Changing the outcome

Lavender and Earl Grey

So fragrant that it fills the pores of the house

Giving her vibes that say

We made something beautiful here.

Lasting and sweet.

Sweet tea and elderberry jam

The land is so giving.

The ancestors of many swirl the skies

We are taking a  moment to remember the good

And wash away the foul with honey.
