Morning words
Yoga and walking this morning has me off to a good start. The wet dreariness of the day comforts me. The clouds envelop me in a cocoon, waiting patiently for Spring. I have plans to visit a butterfly farm this spring. And I have plans to plant bulbs and fruit trees.
I just saw that the NAACP sent a letter to the European Union about the injustices refugees of color out Ukraine face as they try to flee. Why is it that people of color still receive ill will when we are trying so hard for access. Access. Access to education, jobs, equity. Why are these so hard for us to get? But we as individuals must make the steps of self improvement so we can force doors open. Most of the people of color fleeing Ukraine were students. Now they are stranded, finding it difficult to return home or find refuge in the rest of Europe. They are being beaten and removed from trains and buses filled with people fleeing. Also, basketball player Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia. Supporters are trying hard to get her released. Woman of color. These offenses against us must stop. Race is a construct that created mistrust and malcontent within humanity. Despite this, I still want to go to Europe. I want to tour Cambridge. An idea sparked and I must keep dreaming despite my limitations. Maybe not now, but it is always important to have goals.
