Morning thoughts
The great stories untold, finally getting their due. With ease, I share little known, but historically important people with my daughter. Whatever she chooses to pursue in her career, I believe the foundation that builds confidence and self-worth are being laid. My dream is that every child has a laptop. With computers, the world is their own to explore.
I’m getting excited about native plant sales coming up. This way I can grow plants that belong here and support the fauna that lives here. I hope you will all consider reading Nature’s Best Hope, I shared an image of the book recently. We should all become backyard conservationists. Without the animals, we don’t exist. The circle of life includes all of Earth’s inhabitants. One thrives if the others thrive. Right now, hunters in California want to hunt the returning gray wolves that inhabit the land. Predators are important to controlling the herbivores so the native plant population can survive and not be overeaten. This in turn provides food for a plethora of other insects and animals beneficial to the land. We should be grateful of the return of gray wolves and we should honor them, not hunt them. For too long, we’ve allowed our hunting instincts to rule the planet. This has upset and extirpated many species over thousands of years. We are at a precipice. If we do not reclaim the land for nature, we are extinguishing our own future. Without the plants and animals, we are nothing.
